Are you a Christian? Think About Making a Car Donation

Are you thinking of selling or trading in an old vehicle? Have you considered donating that vehicle to a worthwhile charity? If not you should consider this option. There are many reasons to do this, some of which you may not be aware of.  Not only do you come away from the whole experience with a sense of accomplishment. You will also be able to write off of your taxes the fair market value of your donation.

Christ Cars has been around since 2002. They take care of all of the paperwork and title transfer requirements associated with your donation. In addition they will come out to your car for free in most parts of the country. However due to certain market conditions in parts of the country which include the towing distance to the nearest facility, some vehicles may be declined for donation or the donor may be asked to help pay for the cost of towing.

IOCC Vehicle Donation IOCC, in the spirit of Christ’s love, offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to so respond.  The IOCC was established in 1992 as the official international humanitarian organization of the standing conference of canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas. If you decide to use the IOCC, you just have to complete and submit a simple donation form from their website. You will then be contacted by Car Program LLC, this is the company that processes all vehicle donations on the IOCC’s behalf.

Once you have established which charity you wish to work with, you will contact them and make the necessary arrangements to pick up your vehicle. Typically a towing company will contact you to start the process. The towing company will provide you with a receipt when they arrived which confirms pickup of your vehicle donation. You should keep this document for your records as it is important and necessary to file your federal and state income tax returns.

The IRS will allow donors to assess the fair market value of their donation not to exceed $500. If the gross sale amount will be in excess of $500, an additional receipt will be mailed to you within 30 days of its sale from the processing company.

The IOCC will receive 70% of the proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle. This will go directly towards the funding of the IOCC humanitarian aid programs.

If you have been considering donating your car to a good cause, this is probably one of the better  programs that you can choose.
