Where to Donate Your Used Car
If you have an old car that you no longer need, have you considered donating it to a charity? You may not know that instead of selling it you can donate it to one of many various charities for a significant tax benefit. There are several organizations around the country that have local satellite operations that accept donations of used vehicles. The Purple Heart has been dedicated to veterans for more than 75 years. During that time, they have accepted more than half a million vehicle donations from people just like you, all over the United States.
If you wish to support everyday struggling families, consider donating your used car to 1-800-Charity Cars. They provide donated vehicles to struggling families that need transportation in order to obtain employment and self-sufficiency. They promise to give you full “Fair Market Value” tax-deduction if they are able to provide your vehicle to a needy family.
Another great national organization is The Salvation Army. If you choose to donate your car to The Salvation Army, then you’re choosing to help people on the road to recovery from addiction, abuse and/or homelessness. Rather than providing the vehicles to people, The Salvation Army sells donated vehicles and uses the proceeds to fund rehabilitation programs in the area where the vehicle was donated. This is only a small sampling of the many organizations that accept vehicle donations. Many other organizations around the country such as Goodwill, St. Vincent De Paul and Habitat for Humanity also accept vehicle donations. Contact a local chapter in your area for more information about what kinds of vehicles they will accept and what their donation requirements are. Some charities accept vehicles of all kinds such as motorcycles, trailers, boats and more! These items are often accepted for resale and fund various programs. Rather than selling that used car, consider donating it to help your favorite charity. You’ll feel great about your donation and be rid of the sales process!
